Joann Schoonbeck

Joann Schoonbeck grew up in Miami-Dade County and attended Nova Southeastern University and graduated with a BS in Professional Management, then continued her studies to earn her MBA. After working in the tri-county area as a Medical Device Sales Executive, Joann continued her educational studies at Florida Atlantic University where she earned a Paralegal Certificate in in 2014. As a Paralegal, she has work in several legal specialties such as PIP, Personal Injury, First Party Property Insurance Defense and now Medical Malpractice. Joann has solid experience in drafting pleadings, reviewing claim files, preparing medical chronologies and summaries, working closely with expert witnesses, and organizing case documentation for trial preparation.

Joann joined LaCava Jacobson & Goodis, P.A. in February of 2024 and enjoys assisting the firm’s attorneys in the Fort Lauderdale Office in the defense of medical malpractice claims from the pre-suit stage to litigation and trial. Her personable demeanor allows great communications and super customer service internally, with the firm’s clients and in the retention of expert witnesses. Joann is a Notary Public, speaks fluent Spanish, and a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
