Thomas Saieva was born in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Christ the King High School in 1969, Queens College in 1973, and Stetson University College of Law in 1976. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1976 and has been Board Certified in Civil Trial Practice since 1984. He is AV Preeminent 5.0 out of 5 peer review rated by Martindale-Hubbell for his ethical standards and professional ability.
Mr. Saieva has practiced before State and Federal trial courts as well as State and Federal Appellate Courts including the Florida Supreme Court.
Mr. Saieva began his career focusing on the defense of professional liability cases with the law firm of Glenn M. Woodworth P.A. and Woodworth & Saieva P.A. until 1984. For the period from 1984 through 2017, he continued his practice based in Tampa with the law firm Saieva & Stine P.A.
Mr. Saieva specializes in the defense of hospital and professional liability cases including numerous high exposure cases. He has defended hospitals and professionals including physicians of all specialties, dentists, nurses and attorneys in numerous jury trials. He has been lead counsel in over 75 jury trials.
His representation of hospitals has included the full range of services including representation in civil liability cases; consultation regarding State and Federal Regulatory issues; medical staff, peer review and discipline issues; credentialing; health information privacy; consultation for risk prevention; development of hospital policies; the preparation of forms used throughout multiple hospitals; and the training of staff and personnel.
Mr. Saieva has worked closely with administrators, risk managers, and corporate executives on both local and national levels in order to address safety and quality practices. He has participated extensively in the compliance with the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act for multiple hospitals and participated in the initial set up of PSO systems.
Mr. Saieva frequently lectures on various issues to health care providers. For the past 15 years his lectures include hospital Grand Rounds on a number of health law related issues as well as providing an annual mandatory 2 hour continuing medical education course on the Reduction of Medical Errors.
